Dawoud Basha (Lebanese Meatballs) With Vermicelli Rice

Dawoud Basha Ingredients (3-4 Servings)

400g ground beef1 onion chopped1/2 tsp black pepper1/2 tsp kosher salt

Steps To Make

Mix all ingredients in a bowl using your hands until well combined.Shape with your palms into bite-sized balls and place in a preheated oven on 220 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until cooked through. (You can also fry them with 2 tbsp of olive oil on the stove.) while the meatballs are cooking, prepare the sauce.

Tomato Sauce

1 tbsp olive oil1 big onion sliced250g tomato purée1 cup water1 tbsp cornstarchSalt, black pepper, oregano, paprika, cayenne pepper (add to taste)

Steps To Make Sacue

In a big pan, heat the olive oil and cook the onions for a few minutes until soft.Dissolve the cornstarch in water and add them to the pan with the tomato sauce.Add all the seasonings to taste. Bring to a boil then lower the heat to allow it to cook for a bit.Taste and adjust salt and other seasonings.Once meat is done, add them to the sauce and mix well. Serve warm with Rice or potatoes.

Vermicelli Rice

In a pot, heat some olive oil and add 1/2 cup vermicelli.Cook on medium high heat for a few minutes while stirring constantly until they turn golden.Add 1 cup of rice, a bit more than 2 cups of water and salt. Bring to a boil then simmer until cooked through. Enjoy!
