Paratha is a type of unleavened flatbread that is popular in the Indian subcontinent and other parts of South Asia. It is made by mixing whole wheat flour, water, and salt to make a dough that is then rolled out into a flat disc shape. Oil or ghee (clarified butter) is spread over the surface of the dough, which is then folded and rolled out again to create layers. This process is repeated several times to create a flaky, layered texture.

Parathas can be made plain or with various fillings, such as mashed potatoes, paneer (Indian cottage cheese), cauliflower, or mixed vegetables. They are typically cooked on a griddle or tawa until golden brown on both sides and can be served with a variety of accompaniments, such as chutney, raita (a yogurt-based dip), or curry. Parathas are a staple food in many households and are often eaten for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
