Download ImageCountry Fried Steak Ingredients500 g beef (divided among 4 pieces of steak, pounded)2 eggs1/2 cup milk2 cups AP flour2 tsp salt1 tsp garlic powder1/2 tsp cayenneoil (for frying)Gravy3 tbsp butter3 tbsp AP flour2 cups milk1/2 tsp salt1/4 tsp ground black pepperStepsTo make gravy, add butter into a saucepan on medium heat.When melted, add flour & cook until it turns golden brown (abt 5 mins, stirring constantly)Add milk, whisking continuously until it becomes thick & smooth.Add salt & pepper, taste to adjust seasoning & cook till sauce reaches desired consistency (add more milk if needed)Keep sauce warm while preparing steaks.Combine eggs & milk in a shallow dish.Whisk flour, salt, garlic powder & cayenne in another shallow dish.Dredge a steak in the flour (press gently), shake off excess, transfer into egg wash (coating both sides), shake off excess & place in the flour mixture again.Set aside & repeat with remaining steaks.Pour enough oil in a large frying pan & heat on medium high.When hot, gently place a piece of steak & fry until edges turn golden brown (abt 2 mins), flip & fry for 2 more mins.Once both sides are golden brown, transfer to a wire rack & fry remaining steaks.Serve with gravy & sides of choice.
