Download ImageBeef Bistik Ingredients400 g ground beef (or chicken/lamb)1 tbsp oil1 cinnamon stick1/2 cup onion3 cloves garlic2 cm ginger3-4 fresh or dried red chillies1/2 tsp ground cumin1/2 tsp ground coriander1 tsp curry powder3 tbsp tomato paste3 cups beef stock (or water)1 cup carrots (cubed)3 cups cabbage (sliced)1 cup peas1/2 tsp salt (to taste)1/4 tsp ground black pepper (to taste)Garnishcabbage (thinly sliced)tomatoes (sliced)potatoes (cubed & fried)green chillies (sliced)egg (sunny side up)StepsCombine onion, garlic, ginger & red chillies (plus a bit of water) in a blender or food processor, pulse till smooth & set aside.Heat oil in a large pan on medium high heat, add cinnamon stick for 30 secs, add blended onion mixture & cook for 1 min.Add cumin, coriander & curry powders, stir & cook for 1 min.Add ground meat, stir & break up any lumps & cook for 5 mins.Add tomato paste, cook for another 2 mins, add beef stock & carrots, stir & bring to a boil.Add cabbage, salt & pepper, cook till sauce reaches desired consistency.Add peas, taste to adjust seasoning & turn off the heat.Ladle into individual serving plates/bowls, garnish as desired (can be enjoyed with rice or bread too) & serve immediately.
