(If not available you can substitute it with 1 tbsp of cornstarch for each cup of milk)1/2 tsp of Ziyad cardamom powder3 strands of saffronFor toppingZiyad medjool dates (halved)Shredded coconutCrushed or slivered pistachiosMethodPreheat your oven to 350 FThen, start cutting your kataifi dough. (This step is easier when done while the dough is still frozen)Then, pour the melted butter or ghee on the dough and mix it well between your hands to allow the dough absorb all the butter.Now place the dough in the a tart pan or the desired oven safe pan. Pack the dough tightly on the pan making sure there is no gaps and form a 1/2 inch thick base.Bake your kunafa tart base for 30 mins or until golden brown.Meanwhile, prepare your custard.Mix the milk, custard, sugar, cardamom, and saffron until everything is combined. Now cook on medium high heat and stir continuously until the custard thickens (don’t allow the custard to thicken too much)Strain(optional) and set aside.Pour your custard on top of your cooked Kunafa tart base.
