Orange cake is a sweet and moist cake that is made with fresh orange juice and zest. The cake is typically made with flour, sugar, eggs, baking powder, salt, butter, and freshly squeezed orange juice and zest. Some recipes may also include milk or buttermilk to add to the moistness of the cake.

Ingredients

((( 1 cup 250ml)))1 1/2 cups self raising flour @snowflake_sa1/2 cup orange juice ( fresh)2 tbs orange zest1/2 tsp orange essence (optional, i added it, gives a stronger flavour which i like)1 cup sugar @huletts_sa2 large eggs125g soft butter

Steps

Beat the butter and sugar till well incorporated. Add the egg; One at a time and beat till light.Add in all the ingredients and beat well.Bake in a preheated oven at 180c for 15min, then 160c for the rest of the time, for 40 – 45 min or until a skewer comes out clean.Here i used a 6.5 inch cake tin.Baking times may vary according to the one you use.Cool completely and decorate.

For The Frosting

1 cup icing sugar3 tbs orange juice (fresh)1/4 tsp orange essence1/2 tsp orange zest**Mix everything together, add the orange juice a tablespoon at a time. You might need more or less to make a thick glaze.

To Assemble

Pour the glaze over the cake. Decorate with more orange zest and orange slices.
