Tiramisu is an Italian dessert that consists of layers of ladyfingers or sponge cake that have been soaked in coffee or espresso and layered with a mixture of mascarpone cheese, eggs, and sugar. The dessert is typically flavored with cocoa powder and sometimes liqueur such as Marsala wine, brandy or rum.

The layers of ladyfingers and mascarpone mixture are often repeated several times to create a multi-layered dessert. The final layer is typically dusted with cocoa powder, grated chocolate or cinnamon powder to finish. Tiramisu can be served either chilled or at room temperature, and is often enjoyed as a dessert after a meal or with a cup of coffee.
