Download ImageMujadara Ingredients1 cup of brown lentil1 1/2 cup of rice (short grain rice)3 cups of water5 onions cut lengthwise (or more)1/2 tsp of salt1/2 tsp of cumin1/2 cup of oil to fry your onionsMethodStart by frying your onions in the oil until crispy/ Caramelized- using a slotted spoon, remove from the onion from oil and set aside.Wash your lentils well.Place your lentils with the water in a pan and bring to boil, once it starts boiling turn down the heat, cover and allow to cook for 30 min.Once the lentils are cooked, add the salt and cumin. Add your washed rice to the pot and stir gently. Add 1/4 of the fried onions to the mix and few tbsps of the onions oil to add flavor (adding the oil is optional)Turn down the heat,cover and simmer for25 mins.Fluff your rice with a fork, plate and top with the fried onions.Serve with your favorite salad and picklesBon appetite!*you can always add cooked pasta, chickpeas & serve with tomato sauce to turn it into Kushari Source : www.instagram.com
