{"id":8726,"date":"2022-05-06T08:03:00","date_gmt":"2022-05-06T00:03:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/resepmamiku.com\/en\/?p=8726"},"modified":"2026-03-09T20:51:58","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T12:51:58","slug":"mdardara-with-caramelized-onions-kristelskitchenblog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/resepmamiku.com\/en\/mdardara-with-caramelized-onions-kristelskitchenblog","title":{"rendered":"Mdardara With Caramelized Onions"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Mdardara With Caramelized Onions Ingredients<\/h2>\n<p>1 cup green or brown lentils<br \/>\n3\/4 cup rice (washed and rinsed)<br \/>\n2 tbsp olive oil<br \/>\n2 onions (1 chopped, 1 sliced)<br \/>\n1\/2 tsp ground cumin<br \/>\nA pinch of salt to taste<\/p>\n<h2>Steps<\/h2>\n<p>Heat 1 tbsp of olive on medium heat and cook the chopped onions until soft.<br \/>\nAdd the cumin and mix them with the onions.<br \/>\nRince the lentils and place them in the pot along with 3 cups of water.<br \/>\nBring to a boil and let simmer 15 minutes covered or until the lentils are soft but not entirely cooked.<br \/>\nAdd the washed rice to the pot along with 2 cups of water and salt. Bring to a boil and let simmer covered 10-15 minutes until the rice is soft.<br \/>\nTurn off heat, keep covered and let sit 5 minutes.<br \/>\nIn a separate pan, heat the rest of the olive oil and cook the sliced onions around 15 minutes on medium-high heat until they get caramelized and dark in color.<br \/>\nLower the heat if you feel the onions darken in color too quickly. Serve the caramelized onions on top of the Mdardara with fresh parsley and tomatoes.
