{"id":5523,"date":"2022-04-05T05:37:00","date_gmt":"2022-04-04T21:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/resepmamiku.com\/en\/?p=5523"},"modified":"2026-03-09T20:58:03","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T12:58:03","slug":"mdardara-lebanese-lentils-and-rice-with-caramelized-onions-kristelskitchenblog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/resepmamiku.com\/en\/mdardara-lebanese-lentils-and-rice-with-caramelized-onions-kristelskitchenblog","title":{"rendered":"Mdardara (Lebanese Lentils And Rice With Caramelized Onions)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Mdardara Ingredients (5-6 Servings)<\/h2>\n<p>1.5 cups green or brown lentils<br \/>\n1 cup rice<br \/>\n3 tbsp olive oil<br \/>\n3 onions (1 chopped, 2 sliced)<br \/>\n1 tsp salt<br \/>\n1 tsp ground cumin<\/p>\n<h2>Step<\/h2>\n<p>Rinse the lentils and place in a big pot with 3 cups of water.<br \/>\nBring to a boil and let simmer 15 minutes covered or until the lentils are soft but not entirely cooked.<br \/>\nRinse the rice and place in the lentils pot with the salt.<br \/>\nAdd 2 cups of water, bring to a boil and let simmer covered 10-15 minutes until the rice is soft. Turn off heat, keep covered and let sit 5 minutes.<br \/>\nMeanwhile, in a separate pan, heat 1 tbsp olive oil on medium heat.<br \/>\nAdd the chopped onions and cook around 10 minutes until golden.<br \/>\nAdd to the lentils and rice pot with cumin and mix.<br \/>\nDon\u2019t over mix so that the rice does not get mushy. You can taste and adjust the salt at this point.<br \/>\nIn the same pan, heat the rest of the olive oil and fry the sliced onions around 15 minutes until they get caramelized.<br \/>\nPut the heat on high the last few minutes till the onions get crunchy.<br \/>\nServe the caramelized onions on top of the Mdardara with yogurt, cilantro, or tomatoes if desired.
