Add onion and cumin seeds cook till onions are slightly brown.<br \/>\nAdd in garlic paste and cook for a minute.<br \/>\nAdd in the pureed tomato along with all of the spices.<br \/>\nCook the masala until the oil separates.<br \/>\nWash and add the brown lentils and 2 cups of boiling water.<br \/>\nLet it come to a boil and cook on medium heat stirring occasionally until the lentils are soft.<br \/>\nIf using a pressure cooker, close the lid and let it cook for 3 whistles on medium heat, then lower the heat and cook for another 5-8 minutes.<br \/>\nLet pressure release and adjust consistency of the curry with more water if need be.<br \/>\nTaste for seasoning.
