Soak the lentils in a bowl of water for about an hour and then rinse until the water runs clear<br \/>\n2. Place the cleaned lentils in a saucepan and add 1 and 1\/2 cups of water<br \/>\n3. Boil the lentils until they break apart with the back of a spoon<br \/>\n4. In a separate pot, heat the mustard oil and saute\u0301 the onion, garlic, curry leaves and green chillies until the onions and garlic turn golden brown<br \/>\n5. Add the cooked lentils, turmeric, salt and the remaining 1 and 1\/2 cups of water<br \/>\n6. Stir well and bring to a boil<br \/>\n7.
