In a jug, mix the egg and milk until well combined. Add the milk and egg mixture gradually mixing with a fork until no dry bits remain. At this point, cover this shaggy dough and let it rest for 10 minutes.<br \/>\nAfter resting, dust some flour on a work surface stretch the dough and add the softened butter in the center start kneading the dough untill all the butter is well incorporated and the dough is nice smooth and elastic. You can use a stand mixer, too. The dough should be soft and slightly sticky.<br \/>\nCover and let the dough rise until double in size.<br \/>\nDivide the dough into 15-20 equal portions. Roll each dough ball into a smooth ball.<br \/>\nFlatten slightly with your fingers or using a rolling pin. Cut out a small hole in the centre using the back of a piping nozzle.<br \/>\nYou can roll big portions of the dough and cut using a donut cutter. I prefer shaping them individually.<br \/>\nShape all the donuts and lay them on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Cover lightly with a cloth and let it proof for 30 minutes.<br \/>\nHeat oil on medium heat. Fry donuts in batches, making sure not to over crowd the pan. Fry until golden on both sides. The key is to fry on a low heat for even cooking right through. Drain on a paper towel. Glaze the donuts once cook. Decorate as desired.
