{"id":22022,"date":"2023-05-03T13:41:00","date_gmt":"2023-05-03T05:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/resepmamiku.com\/en\/?p=22022"},"modified":"2026-03-09T20:31:15","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T12:31:15","slug":"chicken-bao-buns-ataleofsauceandspice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/resepmamiku.com\/en\/chicken-bao-buns-ataleofsauceandspice","title":{"rendered":"Chicken Bao Buns"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Ingredients<\/h2>\n<p>3 cups flour<br \/>\n2 teaspoons yeast<br \/>\n2 tablespoon sugar<br \/>\n1 teaspoon salt<br \/>\n2 tablespoon oil<br \/>\n1 cup liquid warm water and milk to make dough<br \/>\n2 tablespoons softened butter<\/p>\n<h2>Instructions<\/h2>\n<p>Combine dry ingredients in a bowl. Make a well in the centre and pour in the oil followed by the water gradually till you get get a shaggy dough. Transfer to a work surface and knead till the dough comes together in a ball.<br \/>\nFlatten and Stretch the dough, add the butter and fold the sides of the dough and knead till you have a nice smooth and elastic dough.<br \/>\nCover and let it rest till double in size about 1 hour.<br \/>\nTo shape. Divide into equal portions and roll into small balls. Flatten each ball and roll it into an oval shape. Brush lightly with little oil and fold in half. Shape the remaining dough balls then place on a baking tray. Cover and let it proof for 15 minutes. Bake on 180C for 5 minutes then reduce temperature to 150 and bake for a further 8-10 minutes or till done. Make sure to keep the bao buns white. Don&#8217;t overbake it. Fill your favourite fillings and enjoy warm.<br \/>\nNote: Originally bao buns are steamed I don&#8217;t have the patience to steam them in small batches, nor do I own a steamer so I prefer baking the full batch in one go. You can steam it if you wish.<\/p>\n<h2>Chicken Marinade<\/h2>\n<p>3 chicken breasts cut into strips<br \/>\n1 cup buttermilk<br \/>\n1 teaspoon ground garlic<br \/>\n1\u20442 teaspoon white pepper<br \/>\nSalt to taste<br \/>\n11\u20442 teaspoon chicken spice<\/p>\n<h2>Chicken Coating<\/h2>\n<p>1 cup flour<br \/>\n1\u20442 teaspoon garlic powder<br \/>\n1 teaspoon paprika<br \/>\nSalt and pepper to taste<br \/>\n1\u20442 teaspoon mixed herbs<br \/>\n1\u20442 teaspoon chilli flakes<br \/>\n1\u20442 teaspoon baking powder<br \/>\n1 teaspoon chicken spice<\/p>\n<h2>Method<\/h2>\n<p>Marinate the chicken with the buttermilk, ground garlic, salt, white pepper and chicken spice for 20-30 minutes.<br \/>\nTo fry: Combine the coating ingredients in one bowl and coat each marinated chicken strip well in the flour mixture pressing gently to get an even coating.
